My kids LOVE this puzzle! Ages 6 and 4. They have put it together over and over - great team building! The devotionals on the back take the guesswork out of it for me… which I love as a mother would makes a million decisions a day. A great resource!
Since this puzzle arrived at our house, our son wakes up every morning, runs to the "Jesus Family Tree" puzzle and puts it together. He loves the pictures on the puzzle, loves learning about Jesus' family, and the pieces are the perfect size for 2-5 year olds. Not every member of the geneology is represented, obviously, but the people that were chosen get the point of the puzzle across. The parent guide is straight-forward and full of depth. I can't recommend this resource enough!
Oh man, this puzzle is maddening. Our plan was to build it day by day (like, you know, an advent) on our puzzle board that we’d leave out on the table next to our advent calendar. The problem is you can’t do that because the first puzzle piece (top left) isn’t day 1, it’s day 8, and it attaches to day 3. But it’s a story of Christ’s genealogy so you have to, ya know, start at the beginning. If you want to read/study one piece in chronological/numerical order per day, you won’t be able to start building the puzzle until several days into it. Or, I guess, you could just put it together randomly? Or not read the backs and just put it together, and then dismantle it to read it on the actual day? Ugh. See? Maddening. If you logically think of an “advent puzzle” as I do, and expect to experience it day by day from 1-25, you’re going to be frustrated and maybe a little disappointed. 😕
This puzzle is wonderful! I attend a small church and teach any children (grades 5 and under) who attend. One pre-school boy is the most consistent participant and he loves puzzles!(and he's VERY good with them!) I ordered this puzzle and we used it for the first time during this Advent season. The puzzle was a little challenging, which was good, and we are having great conversations about all the people pictured on the tree. The puzzle pieces are sturdy and colorful. This is a great activity for Advent!
